Person of the Year: Update

To avoid confusion (especially my friend Alan's), Time Magazine has edited their cover to reflect the true person of the year ( see right).

Alan, I'll leave the control of the information age up to you. I've got to get my house back in order ;-)

Time Magazine Person of The Year

Saturday night, my husband told me that I had been chosen as Time Magazines's person of the year! I thought he was being romantic, but apparently he's not the only one who thinks I'm great. For almost 10 years he has known what an incredible woman I am. Now Time has finally come to their senses and seen it too. Wow, with three (now four) posts, I have already made a difference in this world. Yep, as I post this, my boys are jumping off the furniture, but that's OK, because I am making a difference in this world ;-)

97% yummy!

I got a great deal on some organic nitrite free, etc. chicken hot dogs the other day and served it to my boys. My 4 year old said, "This is a little bit yuck and a lot tasty."

More about picky eaters soon...

What Nurturing Notes is and is not

IS: a personal blog
IS NOT: an academic exercise
IS: a means to interact with people and exchange thoughts and ideas
IS NOT: A platform to argue and debate your point of view to the point of "beating a dead horse"
IS: A source of sound, nutritional information
IS NOT: a free, personalized nutrition service

I may add to this list as more comes to mind.

Remember, I do have a lovely husband, three children (ages 4 and under) and a roof over my head, so my life doesn’t revolve around this blog, but I hope I can post something once a week. Obviously, I am unable to field personal, specific questions, but you are more than welcome to suggest a topic for me to cover in the future.
Moreover, any thoughts written here are simply my own thoughts and does not replace the personalized advice and care of a Registered Dietitian or any other medical professional.

Oh, and I’m not responsible for typographical and/or grammatical errors ;-)

Welcome

Welcome to Nurturing Notes. Well, I know the name is kind of plain, and even I have trouble spelling it, but I wanted to use “nurture” in my blog name because it captures what it is all about. You see, I am a mom of three wonderful children. But before that, I went to college to become a registered dietitian (or RD for short). That means that I am a food and nutrition expert who met specific criteria to earn the RD credential. I am not officially employed, but being a dietitian to me isn’t just a profession, it is very much a part of who I am (and so is being a wife and mother). So, the way I see it, my family is my employer, and I do my best to carry out the duties and principles I learned in the context of my home and other people I come in contact with.
With the internet, we are bombarded with so many messages about health and nutrition that it can be tiring, if not confusing, to sort through all the messages and make the right decisions for our health. So here I am, branching out from my home to the blogosphere to share with you some of the things I have learned about healthful eating, and how to nurture it in yourself and your loved ones, especially the little ones.
