What is this?

Being an absolute novice (aka dummy) in gardening, can someone please tell me what this is and if this is going to harm me if I tear it out of my garden bed?

    They sure look like strawberries to me! They grow wild all over the place here, and are much smaller than the ones in our garden. They do produce the most delicious berries, even if it takes a hundred jillion of them to make anything with them!

    I never end up making much with strawberries, even when I get a bucket full at a pick your own farm. I just love eating them fresh that I can't bring myself to actually do anything else with them.
